Barbara Thomas
- March 2, 2021
Celebration of Life: 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 13, 2021, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury of an exceptional and loving woman who we called Mama and Mimi. Barbara Josephine Thomas was born April 12, 1935 in Menard, TX to Hubert Douglas Hinkle and Edith Estelle Sanders Hinkle. Throughout her younger years she lived in Menard, Godley, and Cleburne, TX. Barbara married Hoyt Thomas December 24, 1952 in Cleburne, TX. In their early years of marriage, they lived in Lubbock and Post, TX where they raised two daughters, Renee’ and Rhonda. They later moved to Houston, TX and retired and lived in Granbury, TX for the past 16 years.
Our beautiful Mama passed away in Granbury, TX February 18, 2021. Her last words to us were she loved us so much and to kiss all our babies and tell them she loved them. She then said “I’ll meet you in heaven.” At the time we were upset, but now it gives us much comfort knowing that one day we will indeed meet her in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Thomas, parents Hubert & Edith Hinkle, and brother Hubert “Bunk” Hinkle. Mama is survived by her daughters Renee’ McCoy and husband Ronny of Godley, and Rhonda Payne of Lubbock; grandchildren Brittany McCarty, Bryan Keefner and wife Lori, Tiffany Hankins and husband Josh, Jonathan Keefner and wife Chelsea, Colista Learmont and husband Tanner; great grandchildren in whom she found much joy are Dax McCarty, Ryland Hankins, Kaylie and Cason Keefner, Rhett Keefner, Joshua Hankins, Brenton and Brazos Learmont, and Camden and Bailee Redenbaugh; brother Craig Hinkle and wife Reatha; and a host of family friends and neighbors.
We love you and miss you terribly Mama, but we know you are in no pain and sitting at Jesus’ feet with Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa.
