Barbara Stepp Ward

Barbara S. Ward, 78, of Hendersonville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, January 15, 2022, after a brief illness.
A native of Henderson County, Barbara was born in Hendersonville on February 5, 1943, to the late Charles Jefferson Stepp and Eufaula Osteen.
Barbara was a newspaper carrier for the Hendersonville Times-News for over 30 years and was loved by all she delivered to. She was in the first graduating class of the current East Henderson High School in 1961.
Above all, Barbara was a caretaker of all her family and friends. She grew up attending Grace Baptist Church in East Flat Rock but later became a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Hendersonville.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Thomas “Tony” A. Ward; two sons, Anthony and Jeff Ward (Cindy); grandsons, Hunter (Blaire) and Dawson; sister, Patricia McCarson; brothers, Ronald (Darlene) and Mike Stepp (Janet). She is also survived by a special great niece, Courtney Underwood (Brandon), whom she considered to be a daughter, and numerous other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard in Fletcher, NC on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at 2PM.

My heart is broken. Barbara was a great friend, a former neighbor, and we attended church and school together. I have so many great memories of times with her. She will be missed. My condolences to her family.
