Barbara Jo Buck, 74, of Walker, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Walker, with a visitation one hour prior. Burial: Sacred Heart Cemetery, Walker. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point, Iowa, is assisting the family.
Barbara was born July 12, 1949, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Lester and Mary (James) Kinder. She graduated from Webster Groves High School, Class of 1967. Barbara obtained a degree in political science from the University of Missouri-St. Louis in 1971; she also obtained her paralegal certificate from Meramec Community College in 1995. Barbara was united in marriage to Albert R. Buck on Aug. 19, 1972, in Webster Groves, Mo.
Barbara worked as a paralegal for Cathy Steele Law Office in Clayton, Mo., where they specialized in EEOC cases; she retired in 2014. Barbara was a volunteer for LifeSeekers in St. Louis, which focused on fundraising for medical equipment to be placed in the NICU. She was a voracious reader and volunteered at the Trautwein Elementary School library. She was incredibly gifted in crocheting, needle point and cross stitch. Barbara enjoyed sailing. Above all else, she loved her Lord and Savior.
Survivors include her husband, Albert R. Buck of Walker; son, Al C. (Angie) Buck of Urbana, Iowa; daughter, Melissa Buck (Derrick Cline) of Shawnee, Kan.; three grandchildren, Henry, Josephine and Lucy Buck; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Sue Kinder of Chesterfield, Mo., and Claudia (James) Sizelove of Eaton, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mary Kinder; and brother, James N. Kinder.
