Barbara J. Jones

Barbara J. Drone, 84, of Springfield, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Springfield Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 3, 1937, in Springfield, the daughter of Charles Joseph and Mary (McCormick) Flesch, and they preceded her in death. She married Gary Alan Drone on February 5, 1958 and he survives.

Also surviviving are two daughters, Diane (Don) LaBonte of Baton Rouge, LA and Linda (Raymond) Haeger of Lisle; four grandchildren, Katherine Harte of Chicago, Bridget (AJ) Calderone of Covington, LA, Kara LaBonte Braud of Baton Rouge, LA, and Patrick Harte of Chicago; and three great-grandchildren, Eli Braud, Jackson Calderone and Adalynn Calderone.

Barbara was a life long resident of Springfield and was a parishoner at St. Agnes Catholic Chruch.

She graduated from Ursaline Academy in the class of 1955 and attended Brown’s Business College. Barbara worked for The State of Illinois, Departement of Public Health prior to starting her family. Most of Barbara’s adult life was devoted to being a homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother.

Private family services are being held at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Reverend Jeff Grant officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
