Barbara Ann Wiley, 80, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2024 at the University of Iowa Healthcare Medical Center Downtown.

Ann was born on April 1,1943 in Smithland, Kentucky to William and Francis (Wolf) Threlkeld. The family moved to Angola, Indiana where Ann graduated from Angola High School in 1960. She married Jack Wiley on June 11, 1960 in Angola. They moved to West Branch, Iowa in 1969 where they raised their two children, Kim and Kip.

In 1979, Ann made the decision to go back to school. Ann enrolled at the University of Iowa where she received her nursing degree in 1982. She worked for many years at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics.

Ann was passionate about gardening in her yard, reading, doing her daily crossword and working on her jigsaw puzzles. She loved traveling to Florida every spring with her family. She was very active in the Democratic party (and enjoyed conversing about politics with anyone that was on her side!). Ann loved to have a full house and to cook for everyone. Ann was always ahead of her time and did things her own way. She shared a very close and special relationship with her grandson, Brack. She loved being “Nana” and spending as much time as possible with him as he was growing up.

Ann is survived by her children: Kim (Joe Panozzo) Wiley-Panozzo and Kip (Trish Whidby) Wiley; grandchildren: Brack (Kelsie) Bingham, Joe (Emily) Panozzo, Rene Panozzo and Marie Panozzo; great-grandchildren: Valentina and Serena Panozzo; brother, Gerry (Jeri Sue) Threlkeld and sister-in-law, Kay Threlkeld. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Charlie. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Threlkeld and many furry friends.
