Audrey Marie (Oldani) Dye

Audrey Marie (Oldani) Dye, 97, passed away on March 19, 2021 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Illinois, and was immediately summoned to Heaven. Audrey was born on May 14, 1923 in Breese, Illinois, the daughter of James and Valda (Kidwell) Oldani. Audrey moved to Springfield with her family at the age of 6 months, as her father accepted a position as Manager of the Central Illinois Ice Plant, and made it through the Great Depression. Audrey graduated from Blessed Sacrament Grade School, and Ursuline Academy in 1941. Audrey worked for Decatur Cartage prior to getting married and starting a family. She married Jack Dye on November 29, 1952 in Springfield, Illinois, and they raised four children in a boisterous and fun-loving household. Jack preceded her in death on January 30, 1986, and she was also preceded in death by her parents, siblings Norma, Butch, Louis, Janet, and Shirley, and her son Danny.

Audrey never knew a stranger, and she possessed an amazing sense of humor to go with her gift of gab. She loved her family, her friends, her faith, and the New York Yankees. Audrey was deeply committed to her Catholic faith, and she was very active in her Church, St. Joseph’s Parish. Her faith carried her through life’s difficult times, and she never wavered in her devotion to God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Audrey was an avid bowler until age 92, and she was a member of the Women’s International Bowling Congress. Audrey loved keeping in touch with her friends from the Wednesday Morning Rise and Shine League.

Audrey’s humor, laugh, and calming presence were a gift from God, and she handled the toughest of times with unfailing grace and strength. She was grateful for everything that she had in life, and she never failed to remind her children to, “Remember to see the good in everyone, regardless of their stature.”

Audrey is survived by her children David Dye, Mary Anne Carey, and Duane (Bone) Dye (Lori), as well as her grandchildren Avryl Craig (RJ), Maya Dye, and Mitch Dye, Danny Dye Jr, her Great-Grandchildren Damian Crowder, JT Webb, Alissa and Mason Dye, and her beloved Nieces and Nephews, all of whom she was extremely close to.

The family of Audrey Dye would like to thank the amazing staffs of Memorial Medical Center’s ICU and 4B wings, as well as the Bridge Care Suites and Heritage Health, for their compassionate and loving care of Audrey.

Visitation: 4 – 7 pm, Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. Joseph Church. A second visitation will be held Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Church from 10:00 – 10:45 am.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am, Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. Joseph Church with Reverend Manuel Cuizon officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
