Audrey A.M. Wascher
- October 5, 2021
Audrey Wascher (Kleinschmidt) of Sharon, Wisconsin, formerly Dundee, Illinois, passed away at Ridgestone Assisted Living Facility on Monday, October 4, 2021 at the age of 93 years old. Audrey was born September 10, 1928 to August and Johanna Kleinshmidt. She married her beloved husband Richard Wascher on April 11, 1953, and they shared fifty-three years of marriage together until his passing in 2006. Together, they raised Richard’s son, Rick, and had two children of their own, Roger and JoEllen. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Audrey worked as a telephone operator before taking on the challenge of running a farm and raising a family. She was an avid church-goer and loved to share her faith with everyone she knew. She had many hobbies throughout her life including bowling, playing cards, gardening, and watching baseball on TV. She loved having her family all gathered together for holidays, where each year she would teach her grandchildren how to make her favorite gravy. She was never afraid to speak her mind and lived her life with an unapologetic flare many would admire.
She is survived by her sons, Rick (Roxanne) Wascher and Roger (Rosemary) Wascher, and her daughter JoEllen (Richard) Getka, in addition to her grandchildren, Krystal (Justin) Wascher-Rick, Bradley Wascher, Andrea (Ryan) Brown, Allison Getka, and Carrie Getka. She is also survived by her great-grand daughter Palmer Brown.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and many other relatives in addition to her husband, Richard.
A visitation will be held for family and friends from 9 am -10:45am, with funeral service to begin at 11 am on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Triune Lutheran Church, N1584 Co Rd K, Sharon, WI 53585. Burial will take place at Lakewood Cemetery in Elgin, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial offerings to Triune Lutheran Church or Hospice.
