Arthur Hugo Schulte, 88, of Watkins, IA passed away peacefully on February 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Art was born on April 19, 1936, the only son of Arthur and Hilda (Arp) Schulte. He graduated from Norway High School in 1953. Art was united in marriage to Karen Boddicker at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Norway on January 10, 1957.

Art was born and raised on the 150-year family farm. He was a dedicated lifelong farmer who always prioritized his family and faith. Art was a nature enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family. Over the years, he was an avid golfer. One of his proudest moments was hitting a hole-in-one. He took pleasure in listening to music, dancing, reading, and traveling. Art was a man of integrity and kindness whose beautiful legacy remains in his large family.

Art was a member of Saint Michael’s Catholic Church and belonged to the Catholic Order of Foresters. He participated in multiple Bible studies through the years and was always trying to grow in his Christian life. St. Michael’s Church has been a spiritual home for the Schulte family; where all sacraments have been celebrated.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Karen of Norway; children Nick Schulte, Anne (Ralph) Reinhart, Dean (Chris) Schulte, Rob (Vicki) Schulte, Charlie (Kathy) Schulte, Michelle (Brad) Day; son-in-law Ben (Jean) Holub; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Mary Alice Gibney, Leota Havran, Theresa Kimm; sisters-in law Sheryl (James) VanScoyoc, Beverly Boddicker; brother-in-law Mike (Lisa) Boddicker and many more family and friends.

Art was preceded in death by his daughters Mary Kay Schulte, Marge Holub; his parents; sisters Virginia (Vic) Hemeseth, Carol Schulte; parents-in-law Bus and Dolly Boddicker; brothers-in-law, Ambrose Gibney, Dale Havran, Richard Boddicker, and Robert Boddicker.

The family would like to thank the excellent staff of The Gardens, Colonial Manor, and Essence of Life Hospice for their loving care of Art.

Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Norway, IA. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Norway.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday, March 6th at St. Michael’s parish hall with Rosary at 3:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.neuhausfuneralservce.com.
