Arthur “Art” A. Binnie

Arthur “Art” A. Binnie, 91, of Pleasant Plains, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Villa Healthcare East. He was born on August 31, 1930, in Grandview, MO, the son of Stephen Binnie and Vercie Brockman. He married Shirley Haas on June 21, 1960 and she survives.
Also surviving are his daughter, Carol (Tom) Korty of Ashland; granddaughter, Alexandra (Jonathon) Harris of Pleasant Plains; grandson, Austin Korty of Springfield; and great-granddaughters, Madison, Amelia and Everly.
He is preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Ruth Scroggins, Lois Reynolds and Gladys Boehman.
Art graduated from Central High School in 1949 and the Old University of Kansas City in 1957. Art served on active duty in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War from 1950 – 1953. He belonged to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland. For several years, he was a member of the Kansas City St. Andrew Society. He was proud of his family’s heritage. The Binnie family was known for having its’ roots in the Scottish War of Independence. Art was employed by several local companies, one being an accountant for Schlitz Brewing Company in Kansas City, MO.
Visitation: 4 – 6 pm, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield, with a prayer service at 4 pm.
Lie In State: 9 – 9:45 am, Thursday, January 20, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Funeral Mass: 10 am, Thursday, January 20, 2022 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, with Reverend Daren J. Zehnle officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Shawnee, KS.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland.
