Armand Hofer, 95, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Keystone Place in Cedar Rapids. In accordance with Armand’s wishes, no services will be held. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service assisted the family.

Armand was born June 29, 1928, in Missouri, the son of Henry and Emma (Henninger) Hofer. After high school, he served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War with the combat engineers. After returning from the military, he continued his education receiving his BA, MA and PhD from University of Missouri-Columbia in Industrial Tech Education. He married the love of his life, Barbara Boillot, 69 years ago. Armand was a devoted husband who loved worldwide travel and winters in warm places. Armand loved the outdoors and was an experienced photographer. Armand and Barbara lived in Menomonie, Wisconsin for 40 years before moving to Columbia, Missouri. He worked as a professor for the University of Wisconsin-Stout for 30 years prior to his retirement.

He was very fond of his daughters and granddaughters. Armand was delighted to move to Cedar Rapids for the last year of his life to be close to his family.

Survivors include his daughters, Carol Olson of Cedar Rapids, and Beth Hofer of Belmont, California, and granddaughters, Shondra and Jo Olson of Iowa City, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; and siblings, Joanne (Hofer) Sharp, Jarrel Hofer and Leland Hofer.
