Anthony Charles Broghammer, 94, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was born on April 13, 1929, in Decorah, the son of Ernest and Eulalia (Moser) Broghammer. The family moved to Ryan and Tony graduated from St. John Catholic High School in Ryan.

On Aug. 8, 1953, Tony was united in marriage to Delrose Luensmann at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Eight children were born to this union. Tony and Delrose started farming north of Manchester in 1958 until moving to town in 1985.

Survivors include his seven children, Julie (Tim) Huff of Boone, Mary (Tom) Langr of Washington, David Broghammer of Manchester, Ellen (Tim) Broesder of Bancroft, Susan Broghammer of Manchester, James (Deb) Broghammer of Marion and John (Mary) Broghammer of Manchester; 13 grandchildren, Michael (Casey) Huff, Mark (Amy) and Brian Langr, Ben (Rachel) and Adam (Caysie) Broghammer, Jeffrey and Jenny Boesder, Jill (fiance, Steven) and Paige Broghammer, and Steven (Jenny), Paul (Maddie), Carl (Nikki) and Dean Broghammer; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ann (Lee) Niemann of Lakewood, Colo.; and two sisters-in-law, Margie (Al) McDermott of Cascade and Susie Luensmann of Delhi.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 61 years, Delrose Broghammer, in 2015; his son, Jan Allen Broghammer; his daughter-in-law, Mary Broghammer; brother, Jim Broghammer; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Lila Luensmann, Dr. John and Irene O’Brien, Mary Luensmann, David and Kathleen Luensmann and Robert Luensmann.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with the Rev. Gerhard Anderson.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Leonard-Muller Funeral Home in Manchester, Iowa. Friends may also call 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. before the service at the church on Saturday.

Interment: St. Mary Catholic Church, Manchester, Iowa.
