Anna Marie Diefenback
Anna Marie Diefenback 96, of Springfield, died at 5 am, Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. She was born October 27, 1926 in Sangamon County, to Walter H. and Ida Lenhart Kuhn, Sr. She married Charles “Fritz” Diefenback on February 14, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1986.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret (Norman) Evans of Springfield; three sons, John, James (Nancy) and Daniel “Joe” (Patricia) Diefenback all of Springfield; five grandchildren; many great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers James L. Kuhn and Walter H. Kuhn, Jr.
Anna was a member of Jerome United Methodist Church. She retired from the Illinois State Police as an Executive in charge of payroll.
She was a graduate of New Berlin High School. She was active with the State Police Retirees, the Farm Bureau and at church and was a member of The German Club.
Visitation: 5 – 7 pm, Thursday, February 2, 2023 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Funeral Service: 9 am, Friday, February 3, 2023 at Staab Home – Springfield with Reverend Donn Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jerome United Methodist Church.
Anna had requested all attendees wear casual attire and no cut flowers.
