Anna “Ann” V. Piper, 91, of Springfield died Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Concordia Village. She was born May 27, 1930 in Springfield to Clifford and Opal (Phillips) Cawley. She married William Piper on December 2, 1950.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, William; daughter, Terry (John) Jordan of Springfield; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chris) Curl of Mobile, AL, Katy Bryd (Scott Thaler) of Denver, CO, Maggie Jordan (Jake Noel) of Springfield and Patrick Jordan of Chicago; five great grandchildren, Nathan, Jessica and Emma Curl and Clara and Caroline Noel; siblings, Marilyn Preval, Joan McCrady, James, Howard, Fred and David Cawley, all of Springfield and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ann was very proud of her career working as a childrens librarian in Geneva IL.
Ann was a member of The Cathedral Church of St. Paul since she was a little girl. She was a member of Ceramics and Crafts Club, Garden Club and Springfield Symphony Guild. Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed her book club for many years. She was an accomplished golfer and bridge player who loved to win! She graduated from Springfield High School where she was a member of the Sparks.
Funeral Service: 11:30 am Thursday, April 28, 2022 at The Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 S. 2nd Street, Springfield, IL with The Reverend Andrew Hook officiating.
Family requires everyone in attendance to wear a mask.
Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
