Allen P. Lane, Sr.

Allen P. Lane, Sr., 82, of Springfield, died at 7:45 am, Monday, August 15, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital. He was born February 1, 1940 in Springfield, to Marion P. and Marcella L. Farley Lane. He married Carol Foster Harrell on August 12, 2012 and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mary Lane-Sexton and Janet Hutchens-Gooden both of Springfield; two sons, Gary Lane of Spaulding and Allen “A.P.” (Cecilia) Lane of Blue Springs, MO; two stepchildren, Gregory Allen Harrell of Springfield and Jill (Mark) Forgas of Momence; eleven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Marie Gochanour of Dawson; one brother, Ronald Lane of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, PFC Robert P. Lane.

Allen was a US Navy veteran serving from 1961-1964. He was an Iron Worker for Local 46 for more than 50 years.

Allen was a member of American Legion Post 32. He enjoyed cruises and travelling around with Carol, especially wintering in Tavares, FL.

Visitation: 9-10:30 am, Friday, August 19, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.

Funeral Service:  10:30 am, Friday, August 19, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield with Pastor Paul Rose officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery, where Military Honors will be conducted.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 32.
