Alice Marie (Sanders) Watts

Wakefield, Mass.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Alice Marie (Sanders) Watts at the age of 89. Alice was born in Norway, Iowa, and was the eldest child of Mary Ann (Rygr) and Hugh Berthold Sanders. She grew up in Ramsey, Ill., and graduated from Ramsey Community High School. Alice married Luell Arnold Watts in Shelbyville, Ill., and together they traveled the world, living in Frankfurt, West Germany,

New Delhi, India, and Athens, Greece. They eventually settled in Oak Island, N.C., where they enjoyed retirement by the ocean. After Luell’s passing, Alice lived in Raleigh, N.C., before moving to Chelmsford, Mass., and Wakefield, Mass., to be closer to her children.

Alice was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Luell, and her sister Dorothy Moran (Sanders). Alice is survived by her son James H. Watts and his wife MaryKay of Reading, Mass., and their children Michael, Katherine, and Andrew; son Paul D. Watts and his wife Mariela of Matthews, N.C., and their children David and Steven; sister Rose Elliott of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother Austin Sanders of Ramsey, Ill.; sister Marilyn and husband Lee Rife of Springfield, Ill.; and sister Nancy and husband Ronald Sanders of Ramsey, Ill.

A private family service will be held to celebrate Alice’s life. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Daughters of the American Revolution or the Masonic Order of the Eastern Star.
