Albert “Gene” Lytle

Albert “Gene” Eugene Lytle, 99, of Black Mountain passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Mission Health after a period of declining health. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Vernon and Nora Lytle. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Lytle in 2013; sisters, Gertrude Ledbetter and Alwayne Gow; brother, James “Herb” Lytle.
Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army, was a WWII veteran, and recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a lifetime member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion. He loved farming, gardening, and being involved in the church and community. Gene enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son; Greg (Jill) Lytle; daughters, Pat (Ken) Hill and Ellen Riegg; grandchildren, Heather (Nathan) Cook, Nick Bracewell, Jacob Hill and Caitlyn (Spencer) Redmond; great-grandchildren, Emmeline and Virginia Cook as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Bald Mountain Cemetery. A viewing will be held for one hour prior to the service in Bald Mountain Baptist Church from 1-2pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bald Mountain Cemetery Fund c/o Trish Stepp 1080 N. Ridge Rd. Hendersonville, NC 28792
