Albert F. Kamnick

Albert F. Kamnick, Sr., age 95, passed peacefully on February 28, 2022, at home with family in Winston-Salem, NC. Albert was a loving son, spouse, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Albert was born to Anton and Marija Kamnick, immigrants of Slovenia, in Springfield, IL. He was a beloved brother to Rose, Anthony, Mary, Michael, Lily, and Ann all of whom are deceased. He attended Feitshans High School and was a member of the football team where he met his future wife, Lulamae Skiles, who preceded him in death in 1990. In January 1945, Albert was inducted into the US Army. For his service he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He developed his skills as a hard-working plasterer and became a proud member of the OPCMIA Union Local 018 in 1956. Albert was also a member of the IL American Legion Post #0032.
Albert is survived by his children, Al Kamnick (spouse Mary Kovar deceased), Michael (spouse Rita Pascowicz), Suann (spouse Steven Meyer), Carol (spouse Ann Anderson), Anton (spouse Beverly Moore) and his grandchildren: Rebekah Kamnick and William Kamnick. The Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 7, 2022, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, NC.
Memorial Gathering: 4 – 7 pm, Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Staab Funeral Home – Springfield.
Graveside Service: 11:00 am, Friday, March 11, 2022 at Camp Butler National Cemetery where Reverend Jeff Grant will officaite and military honors will be conducted.
