Aaron Burr Ford, 89, of Garrison, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Jan. 18, 1934, in rural Linn County, Iowa, to Madge Hazel (Taylor) Ford and Wayne Anseworth Ford.
A Celebration of Life in honor of Aaron Burr Ford will take place on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Palo Community Center in Palo, Iowa.
Aaron had a passion for life that shone through in his various interests and hobbies. He delighted in hunting for treasures at garage sales, spending tranquil days fishing. Sharing the thrill of hunting with his sons-in-law. His love for camping and the great outdoors is where he found solace and joy. He had a special knack for tinkering with small engines.
He is survived by his five daughters, Lana Ford of Marshalltown, Debara (Rex) Katcher Sr. of Garrison, Pamela (Edward) Bascom Sr. of Robins, Tina (Robert Pfeiffer) Reid of Cedar Rapids, and Donna (Doug) Hanover of Palo. Aaron was a beloved grandfather to 15 grandchildren, a cherished great-grandfather to 41 great-grandchildren, and an adored great-great-grandfather to six great-great-grandchildren, with one more on the way. He also had five angel babies watching over him. And special friends Thomas Thompson and Luis Gonzalez.
Aaron was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joyce Ford, his son-in-law Thomas Reid, as well as his parents and siblings.
Contributions to the family in lieu of flowers are welcomed and appreciated.
Aaron’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and cherished moments will live on in the lives of those he touched.
