Page Aleshire Boye
- April 21, 2021
Page Aleshire Boye passed away peacefully in Williamsburg, Virginia on April 19, 2021 at the age of 101.
She was born on March 14, 1920 at Ft. Riley, Kansas to Col. Joseph and Eleanor Aleshire. Born into a military family, she was used to frequent transfers to army posts in her early years. She met her husband, Freddie, a recent West Point graduate, at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas. They were married on October 19,1940. A few months later in the early years of WWII, he left for England to prepare for six beach landings in Africa and Italy. She remained with her two sisters in Evanston, Ill.
During the more than thirty years of Freddie’s military assignments to fourteen different places, including Germany, Saigon, Vietnam and Ankara, Turkey, Page easily adapted, made friends, played golf and tennis and bridge and volunteered. Freddie retired from the army in 1971 to a home they built on a golf course in Beaufort, SC. The slow pace of the south was a great relief from the active military life and she took full advantage, tutoring students, and playing golf and tennis. They remained in Beaufort for twenty five years. In 1997, Page and Freddie moved to Williamsburg Landing in Williamsburg, VA. They very much appreciated the life style there with planned transitions from house to apartment to assisted living and finally nursing.
Page is survived by her two sons, Frederic W. Boye III and wife, Leslie, of Williamsburg, Va., and Brooks A. Boye and wife, Martha, of Boerne, Texas; her grandchildren, Brian Boye, Allison Boye, William Boye, Dabney Keith, Kathleen McCready and America Hottle and their spouses: and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the medical and nursing staff of Williamsburg Landing.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bruton Parish Church Foundation, PO Box 3520, Williamsburg, VA 23187.
Burial will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. at a later date.
Arrangements by Bucktrout of Williamsburg.
