Yvonne Baker Williams, a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, July 20th, at 9:30 AM, as the Lord called her home.
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Yvonne loved being surrounded by family from a young age. She spent much of her childhood with her beloved grandmother, affectionately known as Ma-me. Due to her mother’s battle with sickle cell anemia, Yvonne often stayed in her grandmother’s home, which was filled with the warmth and joy of a large extended family. It was there that she developed a love for cooking, spending countless hours in the kitchen beside Ma-me. These early experiences shaped the nurturing and family-oriented woman she would become.
Yvonne cherished the simple joys in life. Especially evenings at the beach with her loved ones, where she found peace and happiness. She had a deep passion for music, proudly collecting nearly every hit CD and album of her time. Music filled her home and heart, just as her faith did. Her relationship with Christ was strong and enduring. Yvonne knew the Bible from beginning to end and firmly believed in the promise of salvation. In her final moments, when she was told the Lord was coming for her, she nodded in peaceful acceptance, a testament to her unwavering belief and trust in God.
Education was important to Yvonne, and she attended Emerson Elementary School, La Jolla Middle School, San Diego High School, San Diego City College, and Mesa College. Throughout her life, she carried herself with dignity, love, and compassion, always placing her family and faith at the center of everything she did.
Yvonne is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Clark Williams; her daughters, Yolanda Needam and Vasier Lucas; her son, Christopher Williams, and daughter-in-law, Nayely Gonzalez. She was a proud and caring grandmother to Jordan Needam, Camron Needam, Caleb McMeans, Tea Brown, Clarance Brown, Demari Farr, and Kimberly D. Williams. She also leaves behind her niece and nephew, Chalondra Wilson and Waymon Wilson; her beloved aunt, Blanche; and many cherished cousins.
Yvonne will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kind spirit, her deep-rooted faith, her joyful presence in the kitchen, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her. Her family celebrates her homegoing with hearts full of love, comforted by the knowledge that she now rests in the arms of her Savior.
A Poem By Daughter Vasier Lucas
You were a special type of lady with God on your roster, trusting in the lord was always your posture, educated elevated and adventurers. We’d take road trips across the states and stare deep at the moon, you were educated, a chef and a comedian, you taught me success is not an option and love are the ingredients. I miss those little hazel eyes guiding me through the darkest times. Thank you for teaching me poetry and helping me to express my rhymes, thank you for always believing in our dreams, I miss you my lady and I’m glad that you’ve joined the heavens team.
