Williene Banks

Williene (Harris) Banks, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in East Hartford, CT. Born on July 29, 1945, in Americus, GA, Williene was known for her loving, caring, and hardworking nature. Throughout her life, she was deeply passionate about her commitments and was a friendly presence cherished by all who knew her.

For 37 years, Williene dedicated herself to Bell Food Services as a cook, a role she performed with enthusiasm and skill. She also provided care and companionship through her work with Companions & Homemakers. Her career reflected her nurturing spirit, which extended into her personal life, especially in her role as a matriarch within her family and community.

Williene was a devout attendee of the Jehovah Witness Hall in East Hartford, CT, participating actively in online services. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing strength and comfort throughout her years.

Her hobbies included cooking and baking, especially during the holidays, which brought great joy to her family and friends. Williene also devoted much of her time to raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, imparting her values and love.

Williene leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication. She is survived by her sister, Viola Washington (James); her children: John Harris of Vernon, CT, E. Denise Mitchell (Larry) of Manchester, CT, and Matthew Harris (Regina) of East Hartford, CT. She will also be fondly remembered by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Williene was predeceased by her life partner, James Lake; her parents, King Solomon and Viola Harris; her siblings: Shirley Ann, Willie Mae, Minnie Kate, Arthur, Willie Lee, King Solomon, Jr., and King David.

Williene’s life was a testament to her enduring kindness and generosity. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
