William Larson

William “Bill” R. Larson, age 67, of Ashland, WI, passed away peacefully at his residence on Monday, May 19, 2025, with his loving family by his side. Bill fought hard against his diagnosis of Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) which is a rare progressive neurodegenerative disease that causes loss of muscle control, loss of coordination and balance, as well as speech changes and loss of control of bodily functions. MSA worsens over time, and there is no cure.

Bill was born on September 7, 1957, in Ashland, the son of Dr. Harry H. and Geraldine “Jeri” A. (Demask) Larson.

A lifelong member of the community, Bill dedicated his career to caring for others as a pharmacist, first at Woods Rexall Drug and then at the Bad River Clinic. On February 3, 1995, he married his soulmate and best friend, Melinda Byers, in Ashland. Bill was a devoted husband, father, and “Grampy”.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda Larson of Ashland; his children, Amanda (Tim) Roguski of Ashland, Meghan Larson of Ashland, and William H. Benjamin Larson of Schofield, WI; and his beloved grandchildren, Kendal and Aiden Roguski, with one more expected soon. He is also survived by his siblings: Barbara Vogel of Ashland, H. Marc Larson (Marcia Cadotte-Lemere) of Green Bay, WI, Scott T. Larson of Ashland, Jeffrey R. Larson of Hammond, WI, and Mary Beth “Swede” (Paul Johnson) of Madison, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering for family and friends will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at Mountain Funeral Home in Ashland, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Paul Simmons officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bad River Health and Wellness Center or the Chequamegon Humane Society, two causes close to Bill’s heart.
