William Pierce Henry of Brewster, New York, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle.
Born on December 16, 1945, in Jackson Heights, NY, Bill was the son of Arthur and Helen Henry.
Bill was happily married to Jeanne (Ryan) Henry for 55 years, and together they built a family that was his greatest source of pride. He was the devoted father of four children – Christopher, Timothy, Melissa, and Katie – and the adoring “Pop Pop” to six grandchildren: Billy, Ben, Tucker, Emily, Wyatt and Rowan.
A decorated United States Army veteran, Bill proudly served in the 173rd Airborne Brigade and was awarded the Silver Star for his service in Vietnam. He was a true patriot who deeply loved his country.
Bill will be remembered for many things – his face always being turned towards the sun, his quick wit and sarcasm, his endless storytelling, his warmth and friendliness, and his infectious smile. He had a gift for connecting with people, never leaving anywhere without making a new friend. Whether volunteering on the ski slopes of Big Birch, cheering on the sidelines at Brewster High School, relaxing at Tonetta Lake, or on the lacrosse and football fields in Hamilton, MA. Bill touched countless lives and left a lasting impression everywhere he went.
Above all, Bill’s proudest accomplishment was his family. He was a loving husband, father, Pop Pop, and father figure to many beyond his own children. His legacy will live on in the love he shared, the stories he told, and the community he built around him.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanne; his children, Christopher and Melissa of Danbury, CT; Timothy and Jane of Wenham, MA; Melissa and Patrick Brown of Hamilton, MA; and Katie and Liz Henry O’Connor of Danbury, CT, along with his six grandchildren.
Bill was so deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, from 4-8 p.m. at Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster, NY. A funeral Mass will follow on Friday, September 12, at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill’s memory to Friends of Karen (https://www.friendsofkaren.org/), 118 Titicus Road, North Salem, NY 10560.
