William Capps

William Edward “Ed” Capps, age 88, of Mountain Home, North Carolina, went home to be with Jesus on November 9, 2025. He is now at home with our heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ. Born on July 15, 1937, in Henderson County, North Carolina, he spent his entire life in the area he loved and called home.

Ed was a lifelong resident of Henderson County and dedicated his career to hard work and diligence. He had a distinguished work history, having been employed with Dupont and Garrett Ford Tractor, while also pursuing his passion as a self-employed lifelong farmer. His craftsmanship and dedication to his work were unmatched and served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

He attended North Carolina State University, where he furthered his education and developed skills that would serve him well throughout his life. William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma Jean Lyda Capps; his son, Neal Gregory Capps; and his parents, William E. Capps and Mary L. Whitaker Capps.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Jan Kwiatkowski and her husband Jeff of Asheville, North Carolina; his devoted son, Ricky E. Capps and his wife Tina of Easley, South Carolina; his cherished eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his brothers, Henry Capps and his wife Brenda, and Jerry Capps.

Ed was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His sacrificial love and unwavering commitment to his family were evident throughout his life. He instilled a tremendous work ethic in those around him and modeled a powerful example of Christlike selflessness, kindness, and joy. His infectious optimism was noticeable to all who crossed his path, and he was ever thankful to God for the simple things in life. His love for his family was boundless, and they, in turn, adored him. He will be truly and deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The family will be having a private service with the Reverend Phillip Trees, pastor of Feed & Seed Church, officiating.
