William  Barton, Jr.

William C. Barton, Jr., 80, of Harrisburg, went to be with his Lord on September 8, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 30, 1944, in Harrisburg, he was a son to the late William and Maybell (Parthemore) Barton.

Bill served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era, retiring at the rank of SP4, where he also served as a policeman. He earned multiple medals, awards, and achievements throughout his time in the Army, including a Purple Heart.

Bill was a lifetime member of VFW Post #7415 and a member of Legion Post #143.

In his free time, Bill thoroughly enjoyed building military vehicle and aircraft models.

Bill is survived by his loving wife, Marla Barton; two sons, William Barton and Jed Barton; stepdaughters Shelli Peterson, Billie Jo Dively, and Colleen Valore; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by two sisters; a niece; and a nephew.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at First Church of The Brethren, 219 Hummel St. Harrisburg, PA 17104 with the funeral service to begin at 11:00 am.

Interment with military honors will in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
