Wetzel Glenn Adkins, 80, of Wayne, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on his birthday, May 15, 2025. He spent his final years in the loving care of his son, who provided unwavering support and comfort. Born on May 15, 1945, in East Lynn, West Virginia, Wetzel was the son of late Persie and Ida (Perry) Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his siblings: Kenneth Adkins, Clifford Adkins, and Edith Adkins.  He worked as a truck driver for PTL in Cleveland, Ohio, for over 30 years before retiring and returning home to West Virginia. Wetzel had a passion for football, loved riding his Harley-often with his brother-in-law Steve (“Smitty”) – riding his gator around the hills and enjoyed cooking large meals to share with others. He was a proud Mason and took great pride in his service and the fellowship he found within the lodge. However, nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his family. Wetzel was previously married and shared many years and children with his late former wife Barbara Adkins Smith. Together they had two children: Kenneth Edward Adkins (Ronetta) and Angela Renea Nickoloff (Beni).  Wetzel leaves behind two sisters, Laura Hager of Proctorville, OH Lessie Chapman (Keith) of Huntington, WV; and one brother: Archie Adkins of Palestine WV; his six grandchildren, Sarah Frye (Kane) of Salt Rock, WV, Abigial Croxton, Forrest Croxton, Molly Croxton, Ivana and Beni Nickoloff of North Ridgeville, OH; and two great grandchildren Zane and Zaiden Frye of Salt Rock, WV; along with countless extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery, East Lynn, WV. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
