Wanda Cleavenger Stout died after a lengthy illness on June 28, 2025, at the age of 99 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Aurora, CO, where she resided for 2-½ years. She was born October 5, 1925, on Brushy Fork, Barbour County, West Virginia, to the late Stanley James Cleavenger and Oval B. Stout Cleavenger Bishop Crosier. In 1963 she and her immediate family moved to Aurora.

Wanda was a graduate of Roosevelt-Wilson High School in Nutter Fort, WV, with the class of 1944. Having enough credits to graduate and with World War II in progress, she joined the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corp in January 1944 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Clarksburg, WV. She continued nurses training until after the War, marrying the late Edson Stout on October 28, 1945, and then leaving training in November 1945.

Wanda worked for the U.S. Postal Service in the Nutter Fort and Clarksburg post offices and retired from the Aurora post office in January 1982 with 30-½ years of service. During retirement she enjoyed traveling, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Donna Marie Lanfranchi (husband Louis), son Ross Cleavenger Stout of Aurora, granddaughter Patria Lanfranchi Vandermark (husband Rob) of Boston and grandson Justin Lanfranchi (wife Arrick) of Long Island, NY, and two great grandchildren Emerson and Ada Lanfranchi.

The funeral service will be in the Fairmount Cemetery Mausoleum, Denver, CO, on July 14 at 1:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Chapel of the Pines at Fairmount.
