WANDA G. NUGENT
Wanda Guthrie Nugent, 76, of Lake Asbury passed away Sunday, June 29, 2025 at St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital in Jacksonville following an extended illness.
She was born in the old Mary Lawson Hospital in Palatka. She had worked at the former Gustafson Dairy in Green Cove Springs for 16 years and had been promoted to office manager. She was a member of Decoy Baptist Church where she played the piano for many years. In her leisure time she enjoyed crafts, antiquing, fishing, and playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Myrtie Hunter.
Surviving are her husband of 35 years, Vince Nugent; a son, David Guthrie (Donna); two daughters, Susie Guthrie (Steve) and Renee Whaley (Keith); two step-sons, Carl “Bug” Nugent and Curtis Nugent (Jamie); three sisters, Gladys Holmes (Billy), Linda Hess, and Frankie Masters (Quincy); three brothers, Harry Hunter (Sharri), J.L. Hunter (Cynthia), and Edward Hunter; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Ronnie Surrency officiating. Interment will follow in Decoy Cemetery.
