Walter Fischhaber

FISCHHABER, Walter Bernard – of Lewiston, MI, age 79, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025. Interment 2 PM Monday, October 13, 2025 in Sunset Hills Cemetery, 4413 Flushing Road, Flint, MI 48504. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elk Country Animal Shelter, 11484 Youngs Road, Atlanta, MI 49709, in Walter’s memory.

Walter was born in Flint, MI on April 22, 1946, son of the late Bernard and Edna (Karstens) Fischhaber. On July 3, 1976, Walter married the love of his life, Deanna Anthony. Their devoted union was a source of strength and joy for over 46 years, until her passing on October 7, 2022. Walter retired from GM Buick after more than 25 years of dedicated service, where he was known for his strong work ethic and quiet dependability. In retirement, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time in nature hunting, crafting with care in his woodworking shop and meticulously building model trains and cars, hobbies that reflected his patience, creativity and attention to detail. Walter will be remembered for his steady presence, kind spirit and the love he shared with his family and friends.

Walter is survived by his daughter, Greta Fischhaber; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Edna Fischhaber; wife, Deanna Fischhaber; daughter, Katrina Fischhaber; 4 siblings, Albert (Patsy) Fischhaber, Helen (James) Collins, Paul (Alice) Fischhaber and Marlene Carter.
