The Toast of the Canyon Wine Train returns in 2025 with three Saturday departures: July 26, Sept. 13, and Oct. 11. This 45-minute scenic train ride departs at 5 p.m. from Carson City’s Eastgate Depot and offers guests a chance to experience the Carson River Canyon with wine in hand and camera at the ready.

Passengers on the July 26 train will be treated to wine from Nevada Sunset Winery, Reno’s only urban production winery. Located in the heart of the Downtown Reno Brewery District, Nevada Sunset is known for handcrafted wines and a welcoming tasting room that features local beers, wine slushies, and a fun, laid-back atmosphere. It’s the perfect partner for this special summer evening on the rails.

Riders will enjoy a relaxing evening with appetizers and libations while the train winds through two-and-a-half miles of historic track. Along the way, passengers can view the remains of several Comstock-era stamp and timber mills, including the Santiago, Vivian, Merrimac, Brunswick, Morgan, and Eureka Mills. The Eureka Mill once operated its own narrow-gauge railway, adding to the historic charm of the route.

As the train reaches the canyon floor, guests will have the chance to photograph the steam locomotive as it detaches and steams past the cars to prepare for the return climb. The sound of the whistle echoing off the canyon walls creates a moment that feels frozen in time.

This experience is designed for adults seeking a memorable evening out. Bench seating accommodates two passengers, and wine and light fare are included with each ticket.
