Virginia Bromley
Virginia Rose (Rodriguez) Bromley, 92, passed away peacefully on August 5,2025 with her loving family by her side. Born in Rome NY on January 26, 1933, she was the daughter of Antonio and Stella (Consilio) Rodriguez. She was united in marriage on February 14, 1953 to her loving husband Joseph Ashley Bromley. They had a wonderful life together dedicated to one another for 50 years.
As a life long parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Church she lived her Catholic faith daily, treating everyone with love and compassion until the day she went home to the lord.
Ginny was the bookkeeper for many family-owned businesses including Bromley’s Television & Radio and Rome Campsites. She was an excellent bowler and had an uncanny ability to play any ball sport. So many will remember her unique style resting one hand on the small of her back when playing bocce. She played in a weekly card club and loved her Golden Girls. She was quite the card shark and no matter your age she had no mercy. Most of all she cherished her family and was a Mom, Grandma & Great Grandma anyone would want to have.
Surviving are her children, Joseph (Theresa) Bromley of Newtown CT, Terry Reber Hoyt of Rome, Stella (Bruce Arbes) Young of Annsville NY and Patricia Silliman of Wimauma FL. Grandchildren, Paul and Marc Bromley, Robert and Geoffrey Hoyt, David and Dustin Young, Carley Huff, Christopher Westcott, Tarah Rodriguez, Marissah Westcott, Gregg and Jacob Silliman and Ginny Bromley. Great-Grandchildren Astrid and Arthur Hoyt, Andrew and Julia Young, Tessa, Chase and Maxx Young, Hunter Arbes Marten, Aiden, Joseph and Finn Westcott, Kaedyn , Levi and Kaira Rodriguez, Tyrique, Najalique, Elijah, Marayah and Jaydah Taylor, Angelina Rienzo and Mariana Santana. Each of her Grandchildren’s families were very special to her. Our Mom shared her heart of gold with numerous In-laws, nieces, nephews, neighbors & friends.
Virginia was pre-deceased by her husband, Joe and her son and home caregiver, John, two Sons-in-law, John Reber and Robert Hoyt. Two brothers, John and Antonio (Rod) Rodriguez as well as two sisters, Concepta (Connie) Cretaro and Theresa Smith. She was also pre-deceased by one grandchild, Jason Westcott.
We would like at this time to send a special thank you out to the entire staff at Residential Health Care Facility for the loving care they provided. We were so blessed to have you in our Mom’s life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 13th at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Interment will take place in St. John’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Tuesday, August 12th from 4-6:00 p.m.
