Vicki Lynne Conklin, 77, of Willsboro, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital.
She was born in Rosemead, California, November 11, 1947, the daughter of Elmer and Muriel (Howell) Vanderhoof.
During her youth, life took her to various places throughout California. At 18, she ventured east and settled in Willsboro.
A natural born caregiver, Vicki, became a nurse at a young age and served in that capacity for more than 50 years. Throughout the years, she worked at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, Whallonsburg County Home, and lastly the Elizabethtown Community Health Center. As a nurse, she touched countless lives.
Vicki loved raising her children and bonus children, but her true love was spending time with her beloved grandchildren. You could always find Vicki in attendance at any sporting event or other function of her children and grandchildren.
Left to cherish the memory of Vicki are, her “beau”, as she fondly referred to him, Lawrence Bridge and his family; two daughters, Carrie (Todd) Pierson, and Cheryl (Jeremy) Vanderpool; grandchildren, Zachary (Taylor) Pierson, Rylee Pierson (Matt Johnson), Haylee Vanderpool (Jonah Belknap), Kenzee Grace Vanderpool, Alan, Adam, Alyssa Conklin, and their sister, Ashley Estep; sisters, Charlotte and Carrie; first husband and father of her daughters, Leo (Gail) Drinkwine and all of the Drinkwine families; her Michigan family; several bonus children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and her furry friend, Ivee.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her second husband, Alfred “Bud” Conklin; mother-in-law, Marie Drinkwine; brothers, Moose and Mac; and “sister”, Susie Uhan.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 beginning at Noon at the Willsboro Fish and Game Club, 47 Sportsman’s Lane, Willsboro, NY. At 1 pm, members of the Nursing Honor Guard will offer the Nurses Prayer and Nursing Tributes.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Willsboro-Essex Rescue, North Country SPCA or any animal rescue, Willsboro Central School Booster Club or the Willsboro Youth Commission or plant a tree.
Vicki’s family would like to thank the Elizabethtown Community Hospital emergency room staff, doctors, nurses, environmental services staff, nutrition services, security, and all other caregivers that went above and beyond to support Vicki with dignity and compassion.
