Verna Crist
Verna Lee Crist, age 81, of Pataskala, Ohio passed away on September 28, 2025, at home surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 19, 1944, to the late Vernon and Eloise Hoppes Chapman.
Verna worked for many years as a waitress at the Grill and Skillet in Bexley and was loved by many there. While working there, she met her true love, Don, who swept her off her feet and they had many wonderful adventures together. They had a very successful craft business. Verna loved traveling, boating and loved spending time with friends and family.
Verna is survived by her children, Laura (Marlin) Taylor, Wendy Short, Darcie (Jerry) Matheson. stepchildren, Donna Crist Herbst, Steven (Jami) Crist, Melinda Crist, 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister, Phyllis Chapman Campbell, and sister-in-law, Judy Chapman.
Verna was proceeded in death by her husband Donald Roy Crist, sister, Rosalie Chapman Baughman, brother, Ronald Vernon Chapman, stepdaughter, Sue Ann Crist Pearce, grandchildren, Tania Pearce Willis, Kelly Herbst, and Larry (JR) Storts.
Calling hours scheduled from 11 am to 1 pm at Pfeifer Woodyard Funeral Home in Reynoldsburg, Ohio on Friday, October 10, 2025. Service scheduled for 1 pm , with burial to follow at Pataskala Cemetery, 9545 Creek Rd, Pataskala, OH 43062.
