UPDATE: Lyon County Sheriff’s Office confirms recovery of missing juvenile at Lake Lahontan

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Churchill County Sheriff’s Office, and the Nevada Division of State Parks, located the previously reported missing person in the channel area of Lake Lahontan near Fisherman’s Point.

The individual, identified as a 17-year-old juvenile, was brought to shore where they were confirmed deceased. Out of respect for the privacy of the family, the name and further details of the juvenile will not be released.

Investigators at the scene found no indications of foul play, and the death has been preliminarily determined to be accidental in nature.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones affected by this tragedy.
