Tony Robertson
Tony L. Robertson, 86, of Riverton, IL, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 6, 1939, in Springfield, the son of George R. and Margaret J. (Reynolds) Robertson. He married Margaret “Marilyn” Dasher on October 7, 1960, and she preceded him in death on October 16, 2023.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Tim Kane) Harris of Sherman; grandson, Jared (Alexis McClure) Harris of Taylorville; and other beloved family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Jennifer Taylor; two brothers, Andrew and Robert “Esty” Robertson; and other beloved family.
Tony grew up and resided in Riverton, IL for most of his life, and was a graduate of Riverton High School. He then became an assistant manager at an Eisner Store, an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance, and for 30 years before his retirement, was a route salesman for Sunbeam Bread.
He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, enjoyed watching anything sports on TV, especially college basketball, and going to the casinos, ever seeking a $1 million jackpot.
Tony was very involved with his community and was a dedicated Mason and member of the Riverton-Lavely Lodge #786 for 50+ years. He also coached Little League Baseball for 6 years; was a volunteer firefighter; served 4 years on the Riverton Village Board and 7 years on the Riverton School Board.
Graveside Service: 10:00 am, Monday, October 13, 2025, at Wolf Creek Cemetery with Masonic Rites by the Riverton-Lavely Lodge #786.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
