Theresa Smith
Theresa C. Smith, aged 64, passed on July 2, 2025, in Valhalla, NY. She was born on June 30, 1961, in the Bronx, NY.
Theresa’s life was a testament to the bonds of family and community. She is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Elizabeth (King) O’Neill. Theresa’s legacy includes her beloved children: Catherine, Thomas, (Brittany Clifford) and Lauren Smith, (Thomas Dillon) her cherished grandchildren, Jayden Castillo and Shaelyn Smith, whom she adored.
She is also survived by her siblings, Elizabeth Chamberlain, Carol McEwan, Margaret Brown (Tim), Thomas, Charles (Barbara), Robert O’Neill, and many nieces and nephews. Theresa also spent many years together with John Bolster. She was preceded in passing by her brother John O’Neill, with whom she is now reunited.
Theresa graduated from high school with a passion for helping others that led her to a career as an Administrator at Arms Acres in Carmel, NY. There, she touched many lives with her dedication and empathy, fostering a supportive environment for both staff and those seeking care.
Theresa also had a keen eye for beauty. She turned this natural flair into a professional journey, obtaining her hairdressing license with commendable dedication and excellence. Theresa’s hands were known to work magic, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary, and ensuring that each client left her chair not just looking their best but feeling it too.
Theresa’s heart was always with her family, she considered her family to be her principal achievement. Her grandchildren were the source of immeasurable happiness for her.
Theresa will be profoundly missed, yet her influence will continue to inspire all those she has left behind. Theresa’s love, her commitment to her family, and her passionate service have left an indelible mark that will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Cargain Funeral Homes, Inc., 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel, NY.
A Mass of Christian burial to honor and celebrate Theresa’s life will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Avenue, Carmel, NY.
Following the Mass, Theresa will be escorted to her final resting place at Raymond Hill Cemetery in Carmel, NY.
