Stewart Horton

Stewart Allen Horton passed away July 9, 2025 at the age of 83 in Springfield, Mo. He was born on May 15, 1942 as the middle child of five to George Joseph “Joe” Horton and Grace (Henderson) Horton. He was a loving, wonderful husband and father and brother and friend.

He spent his childhood in Promise and Wallowa Oregon, graduated from Wallowa High School, and attended two years at Eastern Oregon University. During his career he worked at a local sawmill, drove truck for Mayflower, and then started his own business, Wallowa Wood Products. After moving to Missouri he became a realtor for Action Real Estate, where he met his wife Connie. Together they moved back to Oregon where he took up trucking again as an independent driver contracted with Schneider. They later moved back to Missouri where he continued driving truck. After retirement he enjoyed remodeling houses with his wife and taking care of his cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Horton; daughters Breanna Horton, Kori Murillo Ortiz, Brenda Horton, Stacey (John) Gulley, and Carol (Tom) Long; sons Robert (Tonnie) Horton and Curtis Goller; brother Royce (Pat) Horton; sister Karen Baremore; brother-in-law John Stracener, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Judith Todd and his brothers and sisters by marriage. He had so many dear friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Grace Horton and sisters Donna Pendarvis and Lynetta Stracener; and an infant son.
