As a teenager he migrated to the island of Antigua where he lived for some years. Later he moved to St. Croix USVI and was employed as a car salesman with Henry E. He was an active member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church and sang with the gospel singing group, β€œThe Mission Brothers.” His Marriage to Mildred Daniel-Thomas produced a beautiful baby girl, Jacquelyn.

From St. Croix, Stafford moved to LaGrange, Georgia where he lived for over thirty years. In Georgia he returned to his first job as a Car Salesman with Mike Patton Auto Family during that time he was awarded Salesman of the Year on several occasions.
