Sommer Lyn Simon

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Northside Assembly of God Church for Sommer Lyn Bertrand Simon, 40, who died Saturday, May 17, 2025, in Kaplan.

Rev. Randy Trahan will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Thursday from 11 a.m. to service time at Northside Assembly of God Church. The burial will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery.

Sommer loved her car and knew every car fact in the books. She also loved Legos, tools, reading, and the beach. Every summer, her and her Maci would ride out to Rutherford beach every few weekends to spend the day. Maci loved spending time with her mom, and she would always take her on dinner dates and always had to order a Dr. Pepper.

Sommer is survived by her daughter, Maci Simon of Crowley; Maci’s father, Jordan Simon of Gueydan; her companion, Stoney Broussard of Gueydan; her father, David Bertrand of Rayne; paternal step-grandfather, Jimmy Smith of Rayne and her furry friend, Lucy.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Sue Roy Bertrand; her brother, Brandon Bertrand, and her paternal grandmother, Peggy Sarver Smith.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Simon, Stoney Broussard, Julian Guidry, Caleb Reese, Ron Habetz, and Brennen Broussard.
