Small fire reported in upper Spooner area near Tahoe Rim Trail

A small vegetation fire in the area of Upper Spooner Summit near the Tahoe Rim Trail was reported Saturday afternoon.

Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District reportedly sent a brush rig to the backcountry area to investigate, while one CCFD brush engine was reportedly canceled. Douglas County Sheriff’s Office was also notified. There have been multiple lightning strikes and heavy rain in the area Saturday afternoon.

According to Eastern Sierra Fire and Ice, which tracks fires in the region, multiple callers reported a 4-foot by 4-foot spot fire near Tahoe Rim Trail. Reports were the fire is a spot fire and was not spreading.

Firefighters have been unable to locate where the fire is and are now checking along State Route 28 as of around 3:45 p.m.
