Shirley Burns

Shirley Marie Burns, age 56 of Canaryville, at rest Monday, July 7th, 2025. She was born in Chicago, IL on December 25, 1968 to the late Robert and late Frances Burns (nee Walsh).

Beloved Mother of Zachary Mitchell. Cherished sister to the late Patrick Burns, late Sharon A. Burns, and the late Elizabeth Burns. Survived by her sister Mary (late Dan) Kennedy and brother Robert Burns. Fond Aunt of Colleen Dugandzic, Sharon and Joe Gusich, and Darleen (Troy) Steele. Shirley was a Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a Great-Great Aunt to one nephew. Dearest Godmother to Emily Gusich. Cherished friend for over 50 years to her 43rd Place childhood companions, Meg Morales and Kathy Platt. Close friend of Mr. Paul Babuskow. Shirley will forever be remembered for her keen sense of humor and unwavering devotion to her son Zach.

A Memorial visitation will be held at Saint Gabriel Church, 600 W 45th Street Chicago on Saturday July 19th, 2025 from 11am 12 noon. Immediately following the visitation, a memorial mass will take place at 12 noon. Burial will be private for the family.
