With profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Sharon Ann (St. Jules) Kohler, beloved teacher, grandma, mom, aunt, sister, and friend, who departed this world peacefully on May 22nd, 2025.
Born on August 8th, 1946, in Aurora, Illinois, to Leon and Dorothy (Hickey) St.
Jules. Sharon graduated from West Aurora High School and Northern Illinois University with a degree in Physical Education. She began her teaching career at the Kaneland School District and ended her career at the Yorkville School District. Sharon was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Yorkville, IL
Outside the classroom, Sharon was a loyal friend, a doting grandma, and an avid golfer who her family and many friends will deeply miss. She spent her retirement days golfing with her friends, enjoying breakfast with her retired teaching group, and was always found with a Coke can nearby.
Sharon is survived by her children, Suzanne (fiancé, Patrick Powell) Kohler of Round Lake, IL and Scott (Katie) Kohler of Delavan, WI; her grandchildren, Christian and Madison Tomaschitk and Sawyer and Sutton Kohler; her brother Gerald (Betty) St. Jules; her sister-in-law Susan St. Jules; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Dorothy (Hickey) St. Jules, her brother James St. Jules, and her nephews Brian St. Jules and Jason Kohler.
Visitation will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home, 1617 North Bridge Street, Yorkville, IL., from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, June 2nd.
A Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3rd, 2025, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 406 Walnut Street, Yorkville, IL. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Yorkville, IL.
Memorials in Sharon’s name may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or First Tee Greater Chicago, whose mission is to help kids and teens ages 4-18 build their resilience and strength of character through golf.
