Sharon Kay Adair, born Sharon Kay Woodard, the daughter of Lorin and Marie (Little) Woodard, was born May 27, 1945, at the Decatur County Hospital, in Leon, Iowa. She passed away at her home, in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 21, 2025.

Sharon Kay grew up and attended school in Leon, Iowa and graduated with the class of 1963. Upon graduation from high school, Sharon Kay married Larry Edwin Adair, on August 2, 1963, at the Brethren Church in Leon. Upon Larry’s return from the Navy, the couple moved to Des Moines where Larry took a job as a chef with Bishop restaurants and then later moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, when Larry was given an opportunity to relocate.

Sharon Kay and Larry made their home back in Des Moines and Sharon Kay started working as an Avon consultant and sold Avon for over 30 years. In the 1990’s Sharon started working for a management group in Des Moines and managed several apartment complexes on the south side of the metro. Sharon Kay and Larry enjoyed camping, traveling, playing cards with cousins and dear friends, Bonnie and Lyle Thomas, taking care of their many dear pet dogs over the years, and visiting their family in Leon. Sharon enjoyed cookbooks and cooking shows, and shopping and lunch dates with her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Larry Adair, of Des Moines; sister and brother-in-law, Lorina and Billy Cox of Leon, Iowa; niece Katie Marie (Cox) and husband Matthew Holderbach of Leavenworth, KS; great-nephews Avery Randal Holderbach and Rhett Lorin Holderbach of Leavenworth; several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2025. Burial will follow in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.
