Scot Lee Cummins, 78, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on September 7, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona.
Born on September 17, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio, Scot’s life was marked by dedication, quiet strength, and a distinctive sense of humor that endeared him to those around him. His journey took him from the Midwest to the Southwest, where he built a life rooted in service, loyalty, love, and good times.
Scot graduated from Scottsdale High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Business from Arizona State University.
Scot devoted four decades of his professional life to American Express. Over those 40 years, he became a steadfast presence within the company—respected for his knowledge and valued for his steady demeanor. His long tenure reflected not only his work ethic but also the trust and respect he earned from colleagues throughout his career.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Scot served his country with honor in both the Arizona Army National Guard and the Air Force National Guard. His dual service is a testament to his sense of duty and patriotism.
Those who knew Scot will remember him as quirky and quiet, with a dry wit that could light up a room in the most unexpected ways. He had a unique ability to bring laughter with just a few well-chosen words. He was known as a great brother and husband. His cooking skills were legendary although he chose to typically share them only with family or close friends. His presence brought laughter and joy to those fortunate enough to share in his life.
Scot loved all things cars, following all motor sports including F1, NHRA, NASCAR and Indy. He loved all his adventures in Cholla Bay Mexico, in sand buggies, Jeeps and boats.
Scot is survived by his wife Vicki, and his brother Mike , as well as many extended family members and close friends.
Scot was deeply loved by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
No memorial services are planned in accordance with Scot’s wishes. A Celebration of Life party will occur at a future date yet to be determined in Phoenix, Arizona, honoring Scot’s life and legacy.
Scot often said “Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, holy shit… what a ride!” And he did…
May this memory bring a little smile along with comfort and peace to all who mourn his passing.
