Sasha Burruss

Sasha Dae Burruss, 42, of New Haven, left this earth on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, after a brief illness. She was born to Starr V. Birt and Eugene D. Burruss in New Haven on August 27, 1982.

Sasha was her mother’s “pioneer”, being the first of three children. Forging her own path, Sasha graduated from High School in the Community in 2000, followed by a stint at the New York Institute of Technology. Upon returning to New Haven in 2001, Sasha worked as an Administrative Assistant, as well as in food service, and as a CNA.

Sasha loved the beach, shopping, going out to eat, reading, and spending time with her loved ones; but she loved nothing more than her daughters, Lydia and Layla. They were the loves of her life.

In addition to Lydia and Layla, Sasha leaves behind her beloved mother, Starr; sister, Rae Burruss; and brother, Jeremy Bishop, II, all of New Haven. She is also survived by her grandmother, Barbara; uncles, Raymond, Rock, Aaron, Kim (Deb), David, and Lance; and countless cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her father, Eugene; aunts, Barbie and Regina; and many other aunts and uncles.

Although her family is devastated by the loss of Sasha, her impact is immeasurable and everlasting.
