Ryan Thompson

Ryan Allen Thompson, 46 years old, died suddenly from a heart attack on July 7, 2025. Ryan’s family and friends are deeply saddened and shocked by his passing.

Ryan was born in Wooster, Ohio on August 20, 1978. He grew up in the Apple Creek area with his sister, Julie Pittman and his brother, Todd Thompson.

Ryan’s love for people and for God led him into the mission field through YWAM where he met his wife, Chastity. Together they served the Lord and enjoyed every minute of it. With a warm and genuine heart, he so beautifully lived his ministry every day. Ryan didn’t know a stranger, he only saw new friends. He was never too busy to invest in others and he embraced every opportunity to demonstrate the love of Jesus.

Anyone who had the privilege to know Ryan  felt that love and will forever marvel at the legacy he left behind. What an amazing gift he was. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Chastity, and their three kids Isaiah River, Anna Rose, and Joshua Rainn. He also leaves behind his sister, Julie (Chuck) Pittman, brother, Todd (Stef) Thompson, his wife’s parents, Harvey and Sally DeVane, and extended family and a world of friends.

Ryan was preceded in death by his father, Chuck Thompson and his mother, Sandy (Fetter) Pattin.

Friends and family may call on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 pm at the Fairlawn Mennonite Church, 8520 Emerson Road, Apple Creek where services will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 11:00 am.  Graveside services will be held prior at 10:00 am in the Fairlawn Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ryan would want you to find someone to bless with a meal and a hug. The family was planning a missions trip in the fall and although that date is unknown at this time a GoFundMe page will be set up to support their continued ministry so that all who loved Ryan can be part of sharing the love of Jesus that changed him forever.
