Russell Walls
Russell Dean Walls, Sr., 81, of Damascus, VA passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, VA. He was born in Konnarock, VA on December 3, 1943, a son of the late Chester Lee “Chet” Walls and Nellie Blevins Walls. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters.
He had lived in Oxford, PA for many years before returning to Damascus, VA in 1980. He retired from Brunswick Corporation and was a member of Azen Baptist Church in Konnarock, VA. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jane Winters Walls; two sons, Russell Walls, Jr. and his wife, Donna, and James Lee Walls and his wife, Tammy; four grandchildren, Jared Walls and his girlfriend, Shana, Brandon Walls and his wife, Faith, Brooke Robinson, and Amber Walls; three great grandchildren, Rhyker, Raidyn, and Willow; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Friday, February 7, 2025 at Garrett Funeral Home or any other times at the residence. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm Friday in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Pastor James Walls and Pastor Jim Lundy officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Azen Baptist Church Cemetery in Konnarock, VA. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Those who wish to attend the committal service are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 am Saturday.
