Roxanne Cogan

Roxanne Cogan, a longtime resident of Pacifica, died peacefully at home on July 20 at the age of 88 following a long illness. Beloved mother of Dmitriy Cogan and Alexei Cogan and beloved wife of Alexander Cogan, who predeceased her in 1998, Roxanne was born in Moscow, Russia, on July 4, 1937, the daughter of Elena Sofronitsky (nee Scriabin) and Vladimir Sofronitsky. She was a mathematician by profession and taught mathematics at the college level for many years. She immigrated to the United States in 1974 with her husband and two sons and settled in the Bay Area. Roxanne’s parents were both professional pianists, and she studied piano growing up and loved music all of her life, as well as literature, traveling, and spending time with her friends. She is survived by her sons Dmitriy and Alexei, and will be greatly missed. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday July 30 at 11 AM at Duggan’s Serra Mortuary in Daly City.
