1955 – 2024

Ronald Alger LaBarre, 69, of Highland Falls, NY, passed away peacefully at home on September 27th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. He was born in 1955 in West Point, NY to Alger and Anita LaBarre. Ron proudly served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Army Reserve. During his military service, he dedicated over 30 years as an HVAC mechanic at the Department of Housing and Public Works (DHPW) at West Point, where his commitment to his work and community shone brightly.

A lifelong resident of Highland Falls, Ron was a devoted husband to Elaine, a loving father to his children, Danielle and John, and a cherished father-in-law to Lixrine and Rachel. He was also a proud grandfather to Kyla Faith and Lixrine Ronald. He is predeceased by his siblings, Joyce, Linda, Nancy, Robert, and Diane. Ron is survived by many nieces and nephews. Also a lifelong friend and brother-in-law Lawrence Bradbury and sister-in-law Lillian Bradbury who gave Ron unwavering support during his battle with cancer.

Outside of his professional life, Ron embraced his passions with enthusiasm. He loved playing the drums and performing with various bands across the Hudson Valley over the years. A history enthusiast, Ron was an active participant in Civil War reenactments with The 124th NY Infantry Regiment, known as The Orange Blossoms, where he formed lifelong friendships and shared his passion for history.

Ronald will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and his vibrant spirit. His legacy of love and commitment will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A viewing will be held on October 3rd, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with a chapel service beginning at 12:00 p.m.,  followed by a burial at Eagle Valley Cemetery in Highland Falls. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to United Hospice or Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Ron’s memory.
