Robert Everett Winsor, Sr., 82, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on June 13, 2025.
Born on June 6, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, Robert was the son of Arthur and Ethel Winsor (née Boyle). He grew up in Greenville, RI, and graduated from North Providence High School. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a Polaris Missile Technician, with duty stations that included Rota, Spain; Norfolk, VA; Guam; and Charleston, SC. He was honorably discharged and continued to support military efforts through civilian service.
Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, Robert began his civilian career with Vitro Corporation of America, a military contractor based in Rockville, Maryland. He later joined Microdyne, where he initially worked in Maryland before relocating with the company to Ocala, Florida. Afterward, he held a position with Exact in Jacksonville. During a brief career transition, Robert worked in retail sales at Circuit City, Montgomery Ward, and Sears in Orange Park.
A man of deep faith and lifelong service, Robert found renewed purpose in ministry. He served as Director of Church Growth and Evangelism at St. Peter’s Church in Jacksonville—a role that brought him deep fulfillment. His final and most cherished position was as a Senior Case Manager with the I.M. Sulzbacher Center, where for ten years he compassionately served those experiencing homelessness until retiring due to health concerns.
Robert married the love of his life, Rose Mary Winsor (née Burke), on April 15, 1967, at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Providence. Together they raised two children, Christine Murphy and Bobby Winsor (married to Christina Winsor), and were blessed with five grandchildren: Susan and Jessica Murphy, and Kellan, Gracyn, and Kayce Winsor.
Robert was a faithful member of Christ Church Jacksonville Anglican. Throughout the years, he served in many churches across Ocala and Jacksonville in various capacities—deacon, elder, Celebrate Recovery leader, and full-time staff member. He was also a member of the Rotary Club in Ocala. His passions included photography, crossword puzzles, and creating art, and he was known for his wisdom, humor, and deep sense of purpose.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Christ Church Jacksonville Anglican, 9917 103rd St, Jacksonville, FL 32210. Burial will follow at 2:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218. The service will be officiated by Rector Matt Kirk.
